Royce Gracie Suspended for Positive Steroid Test

The California State Athletic Commission has handed down a one year suspension and $2,500 fine to mixed martial arts legend Royce Gracie for failing his drug test administered for his June 2 bout with Kazushi Sakuraba at Dynamite!! USA.

Gracie tested positive for Nandrolone, an anabolic steroid.

Sakuraba was also tested for banned substances and passed without incident.

Gracie won the three-round bout via unanimous decision, ending Sakuraba's undefeated streak against the Gracie family.

Gracie has 30 days to file a notice of appeal with the CSAC if he hopes to reduce his suspension.
